cheers!

My students are the parents. Taking the first step in returning to school is difficult, but they have made a decision to improve their life chances by coming back to school.  They have come to complete something they started a while back and are now hopefully intrinsically motivated to continue. I would explain to them, in an initial post, the importance of taking ownership of their learning.

Welcome to your Future

I am so happy to be a part of your decision to make a difference in your life!
Welcome back to school.

We will be exploring many different ways of engaging in the learning and you will find what may work best for you.  Guidelines and expectations will be presented on your first day of class, so you become familiar with the inner workings of adult education.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any reservations or questions you may need answered.   teacherforhire@hotmail.com   or  905-688-4172

There are several web sites that will help you manage your decision
http://tinyurl.com/mhwull7  with information and tips that will make a difference because others have travelled the same path you are about to embark and you can learn from their experience.

Returning to school is not an easy task.  Many of us have children who are in school and some may even have a part time job as well.  Statistics tell us how difficult this may be http://tinyurl.com/o98nhfm  but in the end, the sacrifice you make will benefit not only you and your job prospects, it will also give you the confidence you didn’t have before.

As a teaching staff here at St. Thomas, we strive to motivate our students to give it their all because that’s what they have, if nothing else.

Students in my classroom will be part of a  “Flipped” classroom.  They will be prompted  to watch a video or listen to an audio on some issue involving child development.  The next day we will follow through with a discussion in class and activity that  further develops the understanding of the ideas presented. These methods are part of a social science project created to enhance learning through multiple education strategies.

SEE YOU IN CLASS
